2 Truths and a Lie

No matter what you think, all of our professors have something to share. Whether it’s the truth or not, well, just maybe.

Dr. Earle:
I camped under pyramids in Egypt.
I have been stabbed and robbed.
I love street potatoes.

Professor Gilliland:
I cry at every “soldier surprises family returning home” video I’ve ever seen.
My favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio because the green makes me feel healthier.
I got to work in PR and event production for 4 shows at NY fashion week.

Gordon Law:
I’m in the Advertising Hall of Fame.
I was signed as a free agent by the Houston Oilers in 1978 (didn’t make the final roster).
I saw Elvis in concert seven times.

Emily Potts:
I’ve run 3 half marathons.
I’m now teaching a class I once took as a CCPA student.
My favorite food is sushi.

Matt Jacobs :
I was part of a reporting team nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for our work on the West Fertilizer explosion.
I was an All-American tennis player as an undergraduate at SMU.
During graduate school at Missouri, I was a member of a three-reporter football beat that also included two ESPN senior writers and NYT best-selling authors: Wright Thompson and Seth Wickersham.

Zoe Carney:
I lived in China for two years in my twenties.
I was rammed by a bull in Spain as a teenager.
I was an adjunct professor at Oxford before coming to SMU.

Kim Lance:
I have three dogs, two cats, two fish, and seven chickens.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles.
One of my favorite films is The Silence of the Lambs.

Dr Lynch:
Was once a professional wrestler in the UK- his name was “the flying Lingot”.
He was the saucier chef in a professional kitchen brigade.
Dr. Lynch has his paintings displayed in 3 countries and 4 states.

Dr. Kelly:
I have four siblings.
I have a golden retriever.
Orange is my favorite color.

Chris Salinas:
I could ride a horse before I could ride a bicycle
I snuck into a private meeting with the Pope
I was a dishwasher at a Michelin-starred restaurant

Dr. Kirk:
I currently writing poetry about a professor’s academic experiences.
I once owned a scuba diving shop.
I performed as the lead in musical theatre in college.

Steve Lee:
I was “hugged” repeatedly by Asia, the famous elephant at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
I have been asked to tour with numerous bands, including the Strawberry Alarm Clock, Spirit, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, and Three Dog Night.
Swam naked at Hippie Hollow Park on Lake Travis in Austin with UT students and the band Black Sabbath.
