About LOOK

SMU LOOK is an award-winning student media organization that publishes a biannual print magazine. Beyond the magazine, LOOK has a social media presence on TikTok and Instagram, where student content creators discuss fashion trends on campus, trend forecasting and give fashion suggestions to viewers. 

This year’s theme for the magazine is glamour– A feeling readers will experience as they turn each page. Readers can look forward to student polls, discussing popular sneakers seen around campus, closet spotlights of fellow Mustangs, fall/winter trend highlights, and an exclusive booking

As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us brace ourselves for dinner, hoping to avoid the classic family meltdown. If you’ve ever found yourself in the middle of the chaos at the family feast, you are not alone! From exotic side dishes your aunt thought she could cook to the burnt turkey your grandmother forgot to take out of the oven or your uncle who won’t stop talking about conspiracy theories, anything could happen. At least now we’re adults and don’t have to finish all the soggy vegetables from the casserole no one wants to touch. In this post, we’ll share some funny stories of Thanksgiving family meltdowns as a reminder to laugh amidst the pressure we are all under this time of year.

On Monday night, SMU’s PRSSA chapter hosted three impressive alumni. Darian Taylor, Saniha Aziz, and Brownlee Hopkins joined the group in Umphrey Lee to discuss their journeys from SMU to careers in communications. In case you weren’t able to attend, here are some of our key takeaways.

Are you studying communications but haven’t decided which area you’d like to work in? Join SMU PRSSA in welcoming Darian Taylor, Saniha Aziz, and Brownlee Hopkins for its communications alumni panel on November 11th at 7 p.m. The event will take place in Umphrey Lee 241. Students will have the opportunity to address the speakers with questions to explore more about the fields of agency, corporate, government, and financial communications. 

At the beginning of the school year, Southern Methodist University unfolded the CCPA lounge renovation project in the Umphrey Lee building. Many students have noticed the exciting blue wall displaying “Southwest Airlines” and the large glass windows when passing through Umphrey Lee. While the lounge still awaits final design touches, it is open for students and faculty to enjoy.
