Your Guide to Must Do Dallas Day Trips
Looking to escape the city and travel, but only have a day? Here we have rounded up some fun and simple Dallas day trips.
Paris
Bonjour from Paris! Paris, Texas, that is. A small town located less than two hours northeast from Dallas makes Paris the perfect spot for a day trip. While in Paris, you can check out the Eiffel Tower. A miniature version of the Eiffel Tower includes a cowboy hat on top. Before you leave the city, stopping by the city square to check out the antique shops is also a must.
Dinosaur Valley State Park
Want to walk in a dinosaur’s footprints? You will have to check out Dinosaur Valley State Park. This day trip location is an hour and a half from Dallas. At this state park, you can put your feet where actual dinosaurs were discovered. There are also 20 miles of trails to explore. Ham Orchards
There is truly nothing like Texas peaches in the summer, which makes Ham Orchard an excellent choice for a day trip. Located in Terrell, about 45 minutes from Dallas, this orchard has been growing peaches since 1979. They don’t just have peaches; they also have a farm to market store and award-winning BBQ. Drive-In Movies
Less of a day trip and more of a nighttime activity is going to an old fashioned drive-in. There are two located in the DFW area. First is Galaxy Drive-In offering 7 different feature movies, 7 days a week. Located 45 minutes south of Dallas, Galaxy is the perfect activity for a summer night in Texas. Jefferson
Jefferson is a small historic Texas town on the Texas Louisiana border. There are lots of things to do to occupy your time in Jefferson. Jefferson is home to The Grove; a historic house said to be one of Texas’s most haunted properties. After a haunted tour, you can check out the water on a swamp tour, visit the Gone With The Wind Museum, or take a bike ride through town to look at the historic homes.
