To our CCPA community, friends, and family, we hope you had a restful winter break and are excited for the upcoming semester. As we embrace new beginnings, we also turn our attention to the challenges Southern California is currently facing.

The devastating Palisades and Eaton fires have had a profound impact on families and communities across the Los Angeles area. Amid this tragedy, there are many ways to support Southern California rebuild, from donating essential items to supporting relief initiatives through local efforts. As of 01/19/25, the Palisades Fire which started 01/07/25 has burned 23,714 acres and is 52% contained. Additionally, as of 01/19/25, the Eaton Fire which started 01/07/25 has burned 14,021 and is 81% contained.

    • Malibu Apothecary is a mission-driven, female-owned business offering sustainable candles and interactive workshops like candle-making and custom scenting. Through January 31, they’re donating 20% of proceeds to the American Red Cross to support Southern California rebuild.

  • Sprinkled with Pink
    • This Dallas-based shop, ranked in Etsy’s top 1%, has launched the California Collection, where 100% of proceeds support wildfire relief. They’re also offering personalized items for victims, available to the first 100 people who contact them through their website to support Southern California rebuild.

Sprinkled with Pink, an online clothing store known for its customizable and trendy clothing, has launched the California Collection. This exclusive line features two sweatshirts and two hats, with 100% of the proceeds supporting rebuilding efforts in Southern California.
  • East Dallas Middle Ground (EDMG)
    • East Dallas Middle Ground, a family-owned coffeehouse, quickly organized wildfire relief efforts. Owner Tiffani Kocsis, a Pasadena native, led a drive in East Dallas to deliver essentials, toys, bedding, gift cards, and more to Los Angeles. Two U-Haul trucks filled with donations have already left Dallas, but the effort continues. Monetary donations for gift cards are still being accepted via Venmo (@Tiffani-Kocsis) or Zelle (214-686-9319) to support Southern California rebuild.

  • Coast Cycle TX
    • Coast Cycle, a indoor cycling studio located in Dallas is hosting a “Spin for Support” relief class. Book a $25 ride to show your support, as all proceeds will be donated to support Southern California relief efforts.

  • Bird Bakery
    • Bird Bakery, a bakery and restaurant that serves delicious and decadent baked goods, sandwiches, and soups is contributing to supporting Southern California. From January 14 to February 1, all locations of Bird Bakery is offering their Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake because “we believe in turning lemons into lemonade and 85-90% of strawberries are produced in California,” reads the bakery’s Instagram post. ” 100% of proceeds from this cupcake will be donated directly to the Los Angeles Fire Department to support Southern California rebuild.

While these local businesses are doing their part to support Southern California rebuild, there are numerous other organizations and initiatives across the country also stepping up to help. GoFundMe is another great way to help support Southern California rebuild. This Google Sheet lists 227 affected families from the Palisades and Eaton fire for direct contributions.

While the fires have caused immense destruction, the support shown by communities and individuals has been nothing short of inspiring.
