The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Internship program began accepting applications last week. Their priority deadline is February 15th, with their final deadline being February 28th. Keep reading to see if you qualify and find out how to apply.
The DEI program is designed for students with diverse identities. This year, they have partnered with employers such as the Perot Museum, Dallas Voice, the Nasher Sculpture Center, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and many more to provide a diverse array of opportunities. Below are some FAQ’s about the program.
- Who can apply? Students must identify as part of an underrepresented population to qualify for the DEI internship program. All majors, class years, and levels of experience are encouraged to apply.
- What does the application consist of? Students apply directly to the internship program rather than a specific internship. The application will consist of a resume, a cover letter, and a brief questionnaire. Applications are submitted through Handshake at the link below.
- What is the pay? All internships are paid. Engage Dallas/DEI are paid $15.00 an hour.
- What is the application timeline? Applications are open through February 28th. Their priority deadline is February 15th.
- How long is the internship? The “typical” internship experience will be ten weeks, June 5th – August 11th. Most internships are for 15 hours per week.
- Can the intern have other obligations over the summer? Yes! If you are taking classes, this should be your number one priority outside of class. If you are not enrolled in summer classes, this internship is your number one priority, and you may schedule other opportunities after establishing your internship hours.
