Restorative Farms (RF) is a community-based, urban farm system located in South Dallas. Their goal is to create a self-sustaining, professionally-run farm system to grow and sell fresh, local vegetables, build and sell GroBoxes, seedlings, and soil, and provide meaningful jobs as well as farming and entrepreneurial training. RF is seeking a Non-profit Business Intern to provide support to their volunteer Chief Financial Officer.

Job Description:

The Nonprofit Business Intern will provide support to the volunteer Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a nonprofit organization in managing various business functions. The intern will assist in maintaining financial data, organizing documents, and ensuring compliance with accounting deadlines. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain practical experience in Nonprofit Business and develop essential skills in financial communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CFO in day-to-day tasks, including data entry, and maintaining financial data.
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic accounting files and documents.
  • Help identify and record important accounting deadlines, such as tax filing and reporting requirements.
  • Support the CFO in monitoring and managing the organization’s budget.
  • Collaborate with other team members to gather financial data and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Assist in conducting basic financial analysis and generating reports as needed.
  • Adhere to established accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with other general administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn about nonprofit organizations and their financial operations

Duration and Compensation:

This internship is ongoing position, limited only by the Intern’s schedule and desire to be part of this project, with a flexible schedule of 2- 5 hours per week or more as events may warrant. Compensation will be $15 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
