The Public Relations Student Society of America, PRSSA, at Southern Methodist University is the new must-join organization.
Re-Introducing PRSSA
If you’re looking to be a part of a new organization, then you should join PRSSA. The Public Relations Student Society of America, PRSSA, is the “foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communication.” Made up of nearly 7,000 students and 300+ chapters. SMU CCPA is currently re-launching its PRSSA chapter, making it better than before. Headed by President Sofia Antico, who aims to make this a top chapter in the PRSSA community. With her and the new executive team, PRSSA is sure to become one of the most desired student organization’s here at SMU.
Application for membership status for the Spring term will be open until March 1st.
What Is PRSSA?
The Public Relations Student Society of America’s mission is to “provide exceptional service to our members by enhancing their education, broadening their professional network, and helping launch their careers after graduation.” Through their vision, PRSSA advances the “public relations profession by developing ethically responsible pre-professionals who champion diversity, strive for an outstanding education, and advocate for the profession.” However, the best part about PRSSA at Southern Methodist is it’s open to all majors! Regardless of major, anyone within the SMU community is available and welcome to join. Making the SMU chapter a genuinely diverse and united organization.
Through their parent organization, PRSSA offers professional development, networking opportunities, and news. Additionally, PRSSA provides members with internship listings, competitions, scholarships, awards, and leadership opportunities that contribute to developing essential skills as a communicator and leaders. As a result, affiliates of PRSSA be given a diversified experience and develop applicable knowledge capability that employers seek. By joining PRSSA, members will be connected to an extensive network of peers and professionals from many backgrounds. In addition, some of these members will gain the advantage of meeting those current professionals dedicated to helping navigate their careers.
Joining PRSSA, despite your major, will help any individual acquire and develop the necessary communication skills, career development, a variety of connections, and a supportive community before and after graduation. The Public Relations Student Society of America will surely give its members an advantage and experience you can’t get elsewhere.
