Every year, Valentine’s Day creeps up on us with its heart-shaped chocolate boxes, massive stuffed teddy bears, and incredibly high expectations. Having the perfect plan can be seriously stressful whether you’re celebrating a valentine or your galentines. We’re here to ease the pressure and help create a day of celebrating those most special to you. Here’s our guide to planning an easy, last-minute Valentine’s Day for your boo or besties.
For Your Valentine…
Let’s face it, trying to snag a Valentine’s Day dinner reservation at this point is a near-impossible feat. However, there are so many other ways to celebrate that don’t require days-in-advance planning:
- Bring the restaurant experience home, and choose a fun recipe to cook with your valentine. If you’re feeling on the fancy side, throw on a Spotify playlist, grab a tablecloth, and light a few candles for the perfect table setting. Click here for recipe inspo!
- Take a cooking class! Hone in on your top chef skills, and share a romantic evening at one of Sur La Table’s date night cooking classes.
- Stop by Eatzi’s and pick up cheese, meats, crackers, and some dried fruits for an evening picnic in Williams Park or, if it’s too chilly, in your living room!
- Grab a bite at Mi Cocina in Highland Park Village, and take a stroll through the shopping center’s twinkling lights after your meal. Mi Cocina takes no reservations, so it’s the perfect last-minute spot. Pro tip: check out Monkey Bar upstairs if there’s a wait!
For Your Galentines…
- Cuddle up in cozy pajamas, and watch a classic rom-com with popcorn and your favorite candy. Any rom-com will do, but you can never go wrong with Taylor Swift in Valentine’s Day.
- Bake a sweet treat such as cupcakes or sugar cookies, and have fun decorating them in red and pink frosting and sprinkles!
- Host a TikTok-inspired PowerPoint night to share a laugh with your besties. Click here for some fun ideas!
- Have an evening of relaxation by treating yourselves to some self-care or a spa night. Book a nail appointment, or splurge for massages for the ultimate pampering experience.
Whatever your plans may be, remember that Valentine’s Day is all about appreciating the loved ones in your life. With the right attitude, you can make it as exciting as you want, and your valentine and galentines will feel lucky to share the day with you, regardless of how elaborate the plan.
