Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Award 2022 Winner — Dr. Sandra Duhé

We wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate our own Dr. Sandra Duhé on receiving the 2022 Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Award.

The Altshuler Teaching Award annually recognizes four SMU faculty members for their commitment and achievements in fostering student learning. These are individuals who go beyond the classroom and even the boundaries of their own disciplines.

Dr. Sandra Duhé is an Associate Professor at SMU. She is also the Chair of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs in the Meadows School of the Arts. The Altshuler award committee noted her strong teaching philosophy statement, detailing her theoretical framework for the classroom. This framework included her 5-point mantra: be early, follow directions, get to the point, be grateful, and show what you know.

Duhé described her feeling about receiving this honor, “Teaching is pure joy to me, and I’m particularly blessed to teach alongside colleagues who feel the same. CCPA now has four Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Professors, making us one of the most highly awarded departments on campus for teaching excellence. That collective honor is a source of pride for faculty, students, and alumni.”
