Fulfill CCPA’s International/Intercultural Class Requirement with Creating Global and Public Health Impact

Are you in search of a class to fulfill CCPA’s International/Intercultural class requirement? Look no further than Dr. Eric G. Bing’s Creating Global and Public Health Impact class in Spring 2024. This class offers students public health training and expertise in developing solutions for complex public challenges in real-world contexts. Students with a wide variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply; no health background or expertise is required.

During class students will enjoy case studies, guest speakers, discussions, and live debates. The course ends with a public case competition, the Battle to Save Lives. Students will provide real-world solutions to problems faced by a local organization.

While this course fulfills the International/Intercultural class requirement for CCPA/PRSA. It also fulfills the Human Diversity (HD), Community Engagement (CE), and Global Perspectives (GPS) Common Curriculum Proficiencies and Experiences requirements.

Eric G. Bing, MD, PhD, MBA, is a professor of global health in the Department of Applied Physiology & Wellness at the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education & Human Development and in the Department of Anthropology at the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. Dr. Bing is a physician and health services researcher with more than 25 years of experience. He works in developing countries and the US to analyze and solve public health challenges.

More information on the Spring 2024 course is available in the course flyer. Space is limited, and you must get instructor permission to enroll. The final day to apply is October 26th, 2023. Be aware that this course is offered in alternating years.
