SMU Abroad is looking to hire a Peer Advisor for Academic Year 22-23. Peer Advisors are essential to the function of SMU Abroad. This is a paid position ($10 an hour) for approximately 10 hours per week. Applicants are not required to have studied abroad to apply for this position.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors at the front desk; answer general questions
- Advise prospective students interested in opportunities abroad, either individually or in a group setting
- Assist students in understanding the application and pre-departure processes
- Assist with office tasks such as application processing, data entry, database management, and event scheduling
- Coordinate and staff SMU Abroad events such as the Study Abroad Fair, tabling info sessions, class visits, and Abroad201: Pre-Departure Orientation for semester students
- Represent SMU Abroad at SMU-related events, including Mustang Day, Destination SMU, and other outreach and recruiting events
- Create social media content for SMU Abroad on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube accounts
- Help lead in-person info sessions
- Provide general office support
Eligibility Requirements
Open to all undergraduate students who meet the following requirements:
- Enrolled as a full-time student throughout the 2022-23 school year
- No honor code violations or conduct sanction of “Conduct Probation” or higher
- Work-study eligible preferred
- Provided resume and cover letter
- Participated in an interview
