People are Going Nuts for Taos Bakes!

Entrepreneur and Southern Methodist alumnus Brooks Thostenson founded Taos Bakes, a granola company based in Taos and Questa, New Mexico. Before he created a granola powerhouse, he was just a student attending a study abroad program in Taos, New Mexico, through SMU’s partnered program.

Taos Bakes is a company that takes pride in its fresh, high-quality ingredients. They have 8 granola bar flavors, 3 granola bar flavor combination boxes, 4 flavored nut bags, and 4 flavored granola bags. Brooks and his crew hand-craft great recipes to ensure the granola added to your daily routine is something to look forward to. You can find Taos Bakes in Whole Foods, Publix, and Kroger stores. SMU has been nurturing several entrepreneurship programs over the years. The largest and most participated of the programs is SMU’s “Big iDeas” competition put on every year. Above all, SMU offers the ability to obtain a degree in various entrepreneurship specializations.

Thostenson is excited to inspire the next group of entrepreneurs. You can listen to him talk on February 22 in the Moody Graduate Auditorium from 4-5 pm. He’ll advise how to run a successful business and give personal anecdotes about what helped him throughout his journey. SMU is ecstatic to welcome home a fellow Mustang as he shares his story. From making granola bars in the kitchen to creating a company found in stores nationwide.
