The American Advertising Federation (AAF) 10th District is awarding 10 scholarships, of varying amounts ranging from $3,500 up to $8,500 dollars, valued at a total of $45,500 dollars, to students of the AAF 10th District — Arkansas, Louisiana (west of Monroe), Oklahoma, and Texas (excluding El Paso).

The AAF Tenth District Scholarships are designed to recognize, promote and encourage academically talented students of advertising related disciplines, helping them complete their education. A total of $45,500 scholarships will be awarded by the AAF Tenth District.

ELIGIBILITY:
APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2024.

A. Applicant must attend a college within the Tenth District of the American Advertising Federation. The Tenth District includes:

  • Arkansas
  • Louisiana (west of Monroe)
  • Oklahoma
  • Texas (excluding El Paso)

B. Applicant must be an undergraduate member (freshman, sophomore, junior or senior either entering graduate school or with one semester remaining for graduation) who has completed at least one (1) semester of college.

C. Students must be majoring or minoring in:

  • Advertising
  • Marketing
  • Commercial Art
  • Graphic Design
  • Photography
  • Communications
  • Public Relations
  • Journalism
  • Radio/Television/Film

D. Applicant must have an overall GPA of 2.5 and a 3.0 minimum in their field of study.

E. Students must obtain a letter of recommendation from at least one, but not more than three faculty members in their major.

F. Applicants must include a one page double spaced essay on their reasons for wanting to enter the advertising industry.

Students should submit three to five samples of work accomplished in their chosen courses of study. These may include copy, design, photography, illustration, video, audio, musical composition, marketing recommendations, or positioning and strategy documents for creative, media, or promotion. Electronic files should be submitted with the scholarship application.

Submit essay or work samples as electronic files compatible for both Mac and PC. (Electronic files are recommended for scholarship entries as this will simplify judging procedures).

Applicant should state sources of income currently being directed toward paying their education expenses and list them on the AAF Tenth District application form.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

A. Complete the Online Application Form below. No other form will be accepted.

B. Obtain an official copy of your current college/university transcript and attach to the application.

C. Complete the essay, obtain letters of recommendation, and prepare your presentation of these materials.

D. Submit all materials electronically below to the Tenth District Scholarship Committee before the published deadline.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Selection will be made on a scoring system of the above defined application process including how well instructions were followed, the inclusion of all required components, and the overall presentation of your materials.

DEADLINE:
Applications for the 2024 Scholarships must be received by Friday, March 29, 2024.

NOTIFICATION AND RECEIPT OF FUNDS:
A. Recipients will be announced via email.

B. Payment of the scholarship money will be to the Financial Aid office of the Recipient’s college or university.
