It’s officially midsummer and the mustangs are out for vacation, giving students and faculty alike a well-deserved break from classes. But that leaves some of us wondering: how we should spend our free time? Luckily the solution is simple, summer reading, and we’re not talking textbooks.

When it comes to books, there is something for everyone. Not a reader? No problem, just check out these novels some of our CCPA professors are reading this summer. From romance, sci-fi, and suspense the CCPA department enjoys it all.

This is not the book but the original screenplay with all the settings and descriptions to help bring the story to life. Consider the Kindle version.

5. Where The Crawdads Sing

As for me, I’m here in Dallas, trying my best to beat the heat. Personally, I am a huge Reese Witherspoon fan, so when I heard she was producing a new movie based on her favorite book I knew I had to read it too. Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, is based on a young woman who raised herself in the marshes of the deep south. As events unfold, she becomes a murder suspect of a man with which she was once involved.

And our other summer fellow, Alyce Tanner, is reading Business for Communicators by our own Dr. Sandra Duhé. As a Communications major, this is a must-read to go into the business world. Dr. Duhé makes sure to explain how a corporation operates and what important areas you have to understand to get a seat at the table. Check back for a review of this book later this summer.
