About Hilltop-on-the-Hill 2023

Are you looking for an unforgettable experience this fall? Look no further than the Hilltop-on-the-Hill program. With the opportunity to stay blocks away from the White House in Downtown D.C. from October 7 through 11, this immersive program offers 12 lucky students the chance to learn from some of the most respected communication professionals around, including press secretaries, speech writers, nonprofit advocates, lobbyists, and political advisors. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet with policymakers and explore our nation’s rich history through visits to museums and monuments. Best of all, you’ll get an insider’s look at how democracy
works.

Signature CCPA Program

Hilltop-on-the-Hill is a signature program part of the Corporate Communication and Public Affairs (CCPA) political communication track. It aims to emphasize the crucial role of communication in creating Washington, D.C., its museums, and the memorials that make it a memorable location. Through a thorough analysis of the persuasive impact of the way our nation is visually framed, students are encouraged to view the capital city from a different perspective. As part of the program, students visit the Newseum, commonly called the Museum of News, to witness the artifacts at the heart of the First Amendment cases.

Making Important Contacts

The Hilltop-on-the-Hill program is an exceptional opportunity for the 12 fortunate students who are accepted. They will have the chance to forge invaluable connections with insiders and career experts in D.C. Every program year offers a unique experience, but the program’s core remains the same: Helping students establish professional connections, especially with alums. During the program, students will meet a wide range of people, including power brokers and first-year Capitol Hill interns. These meetings will help them define their career paths and take the following steps toward their goals.

How Hilltop-on-the-Hill is Made Possible

Hilltop-on-the-Hill owes its success to the generosity of alumnus Douglas Bauer, whose endowment enables us to offer valuable resources to motivated students committed to putting in the effort required to participate fully.

Additionally, we are grateful to Southwest Airlines for their ongoing support in sponsoring student flights to D.C. over the past several years. Their contributions have significantly impacted our program, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.
