Akola creates striking jewelry that lifts up and champions women around the world. They provide life-changing job opportunities through vertically-integrated manufacturing, employing women in Uganda to handcraft each Akola piece with local and sustainable materials. Akola means “she works” in a local Ugandan dialect. It was started in 2007 by SMU Alum Brittany Merrill Underwood, with fifteen women under a tree. Today, Akola is a thriving purpose-driven brand and manufacturing business that creates beautiful jewelry and builds up the life and livelihoods of the extremely poor.

Who Akola is Looking for:

They are looking for a high-energy, solution-focused intern who possesses superb communication skills.

Successful Candidate will:

Marketing

  • work with RewardStyle to advance brands on the platform
  • influencer communication
  • assist with photo shoots
  • have the willingness to be creative and jump into projects that require attention to detail and artistic ability
  • pull images for social media and create stories and posts

Sales

  • coordinate trunk shows
  • coordinate corporate and brand partnerships

Supply Chain

  • help pack and ship new home goods line
  • facilitate inventory transfers
