The Meadows Marketing and Communications Department has posted a position for a Content Strategist. The Department provides a number of services to the school, including but not limited to media relations and public information, graphic design and art direction, print production, content management, branding insight, event marketing, and market research.

About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The architect of Meadows’ digital presence does extensive research to understand the online behavior of Meadows target audiences and digitally connect them to our brand. Advises clients on aligning their goals with digital marketing strategy & identify opportunities for them to use digital channels to enhance their work in ways that support Meadows and SMU objectives. Implements SEO best practices and provides a level of fluency on digital platforms that leads to the recommendation of optimal online solutions. Creates and manages content marketing campaigns with team members, student workers and freelancers, including local influencers and content creators. Oversees video strategy including short form video creation/distribution and YouTube channel management. Success will be continuously pursued by analyzing platform insights, and conducting asset audits to map the school’s global web presence, assessing the effectiveness of each asset.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans and implements brand strategies for Meadows, SMU DataArts and internal clients. Combines industry best practices and innovative thinking to create ideas that tie web, mobile, email, search & social together to provide solutions based on consumer insight & data. Advises clients on scope and recommendations for their projects and ensure that the work supports Meadows-wide goals and objectives.
  • Using an editorial plan for all Meadows and DataArts digital properties (websites, all blogs, social platforms, microsites, video and podcasts), creates and manages content strategy for Meadows School of the Arts. Includes channel integration, advance planning and careful execution. Strengthens the voice of Meadows on all digital platforms.
  • Oversees student workers and freelancers including videographers, copywriters, content managers and web designers. Collaborates with other Meadows team members including those working in marketing, web, video creation and streaming.
  • Provides continuous assessment of Meadows’ performance in digital spaces including Google Analytics, social platforms, Meltwater, email tools and any other available tools for analyzing the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required to provide digital coverage of top-priority events or manage video crews.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications or film is preferred.

Three years work experience is required. Experience working in HTML, a minimum of two different content management systems and writing for a variety of channels in multiple styles (including social platforms and AP style) is required. Experience with inbound marketing campaigns, web/social analytics and experience with project management software (like Asana) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must be able to interpret messages, understand audiences and create content that communicates desired message to target market.

Candidate must possess a strong sense of initiative and ability to work independently.

Candidate must also have exceptional creativity and communication/organizational skills to retain detailed information about a variety of clients and quickly changing products.

Candidates ability to multi-task and prioritize many competing demands is essential.

Candidate knowledge of content management systems and familiarity with SEO best practices is a plus.

Candidate must have an eye for creating online content and an ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in HTML, WordPress, Google Analytics and social platform analytics.

Candidate knowledge of Sitecore and video production software is a plus.
