Did you know that CCPA has one of the most (if not the most – pretty sure we do) honored teaching faculties on campus? Faculty who’ve received more distinguished teaching awards than any other department at SMU?

Well, we just added more to our list of accolades. Congratulations to these professors for jobs exceedingly well done:

Dr. Zoë Hess Carney has been nominated for a HOPE (Honoring Our Professors’ Excellence) award – in just her second semester at SMU! She’ll be recognized at the HOPE banquet later this month. The HOPE is particularly special because students submit nominations.

Dr. Pui Charoensap-Kelly just received the Southern States Communication Association’s (SSCA) Dwight L. Freshley Outstanding New Teacher Award for well-demonstrated, ongoing excellence in the classroom. She’ll be honored in April at the 93rd annual meeting of SSCA in St. Petersburg, FL.

Dr. Maria Dixon Hall, famed professor of Communication Theory and Ethnicity, Culture, and Gender, was recently honored in a VIP ceremony including President Turner and the SMU Board of Trustees as only the second educator to be named as an Education Champion by the U.S. Congress and the Congressional Foundation.
